Mastermind

Rules

On the left side you can see six colored (and for the color blind numbered) marbles. The computer has picked a combination of four marbles (the colors can be repeated). The objective of the game is to guess the chosen combination in at most ten rounds.

To guess, simply click on the marble you want and then drop it into the appropriate place. You can also replace already placed marbles. As soon as there are four of them in one row, the computer gives you the following hints:

For each correct marble in the correct position you'll get one black point. For each correct marble in the wrong position you'll receive a white one.

Difficulty levels

The combination created by computer is hidden in the very last, white row. But nobody can actually see it. That is why the computer can "cheat" a bit and change the hidden combination in the middle of a running game. Of course, the already given hints must also fit to its new choice.

In the easy the computer will generate and adjust a new combination based on your tips leading you for quickiest way to win. In the normal mode, it will stick to the already chosen combination and not change it during the game. In the difficult mode the computer will generate and adjust a new combination based on your tips to make it more difficult for you to win. (Still, you can win in some 6 rounds :-)

You can change the difficulty level even during the game. If you start a game in the very easy level it will be a short and boring one :-)
